Show You Should Know: Miss Tess and The Wiles @ Johnny D’s 6/19 Featured Concert by Brian Carroll - June 17, 2015January 21, 20160 I first caught Miss Tess years back at the behest of my good pal Ward Hayden of Girls Guns and Glory. It was one of those cool evenings as I descended the stairs into the red tinged atmosphere of the Lizard Lounge…and I was hooked on her timeless, two stepping, good timing tunes. Way back in January I caught her again, this time alongside those honky tonkin’ boys for their annual New Years Day Hank Williams tribute at that same room. The room I have grown to love so much over the years that has played host to so many of my favorite folks, of course including Miss Tess and her band. The Wiles. I could leave it at that (because the gals in the band need to further explanation, they are just phenomenal). But I won’t leave it just there. The trio stole my heart last year and also stole a tiny golden microphone trophy from my for my favorite find of 2014. As if that wasn’t enough, they completely wowed me when they came into the studio to lay down a Dietrich Strause track for the third volume of Locals Covering Locals due out this Fall. I could leave it at the fact that they are an incredible group of three insanely talented musicians, but Ellie, Isa, and Mali has also become good friends this past year. I am extremely grateful for not just their voices and their songs but also their friendship. These two amazing acts will team up for a great bill this coming Friday at Johnny D’s. Tickets can be had here: http://johnnyds.tunestub.com/event.cfm?id=194382 and I fully recommend taking in this evening of fantastic music. Seriously, go, do it now!
