Show You Should Know: Bridget Kearney at Billsville House Concerts (4/23)

Harmonies, expertly thumped low end and just flat out fun, energetic times is what Bridget Kearney‘s musical prowess is typically known for in her work with Lake Street Dive. The band just makes you smile. This  year Kearney struck off on her own with a brand new solo release, Won”t Let You Down.

While this tour and this band sees her coming out to the front of the stage, she is no stranger to penning many of the songs for LSD and being a huge part of that band’s stage presence. Being a front person comes naturally to the artist and it shows on this record, being proclaimed as “dynamic” and having “instant appeal”. The pop sensibilities and a well written hook ring true, but she is able to keep you locked in with engaging and interesting arrangements and sonic choices to constantly leave you wondering whats next. Groove to it folks.

You can (and should) get your tickets to this intimate show RIGHT HERE, right now. Sunday, Sunday, Sunday.

From Billsville: The band is ridiculous and includes Benjamin Lazar Davis (Cuddle Magic, BAWA), Sarah K. Pedonotti (Lip Talk, Okkervil River), and Alwyn Robinson (Sugar Sugar, Leftover Salmon) PLUS Margaret Glaspy playing guitar on select dates!

Best known as a member of the soul-pop sensation Lake Street Dive, Bridget Kearney is stepping out on her own this spring, hitting the road in the wake of the release of her first solo effort, a wry, big-hearted pop album entitled “Won’t Let You Down.” Shades of the Beatles, Wilco, Fleetwood Mac and even Nick Cave can be detected, as the album swerves from 1960s pop to modern indie-rock.

With Lake Street Dive, Bridget Kearney has fine-tuned many things – voracious collaborating, acclaimed bass playing, and harmonizing to name a few. But the skill she has honed most obsessively is songwriting. While still a student at the New England Conservatory of Music, Kearney won the grand prize in the John Lennon Songwriting Contest, a harbinger of things to come.

Now it’s Kearney’s turn in the spotlight.
