What about it: “Musically, Season of Freedom is a classic folk song. You can actually imagine 60s-era hippies hanging in Haight-Ashbury finger picking it on the corner. But what makes this song stand out is the magic that happens when River Sister’s rhythm section, accomplished jazz musicians PJ Donahue (drums) and Nate Therrien (double bass), takes the foreground and creates a vibe of a modern-day around-the-campfire party. The groove is prominent and one can envision friends dancing around the flames.”

Emotionally, this tune also packs a subtle punch. “It’s about survival – standing up for yourself and what you believe in,” noted vocalist Stefanie Guzikowski. “I hope we’re conveying strength, gratitude and the audacity of love to our audiences.”

In fact, vocalists Stefanie Guzikowski and Elissa Margolin are honest about using their music medicinally to free themselves from the world’s many sources of despair.  They even titled their 2017 summer tour after this song. “There’s a remarkable spiritual freedom that happens during a tour,” noted Elissa. “It felt right calling it the Season of Freedom tour.”
