Singled Out: “The Weatherman (Or the Felonies are Magnets on my Coat),” by Matt Holubowski

It starts eerily, and stays there for a while. But what really made me take notice of Montreal songwriter Matt Holubowski’s tune, “The Weatherman (Or the Felonies are Magnets on my Coat),” is when he unleashes his vocal range. Strings rise, filling out the sound and he meets them with full energy. Matt releases his debut album on Friday (find more info here) and he’ll be swinging down to Boston, playing The Red Room on September 15. It’s sure to be a great show in an intimate venue.

Matt shared some of his thoughts on this song over on PopMatters. It’s a great read and you should check it out. Matt says: “’The Weatherman’ is essentially about that creeping feeling you have peeking over your shoulder and seeing a shadow of sorts following you, never certain whether it represents a threat, or is just someone randomly and innocently walking nearby.”

Check out the song and you can get tickets for Matt’s show at The Red Room here.
