It’s Tuesday, but it feels like Monday. Holiday weekends always mess me up and even with a short work week, it somehow feels longer. Unless you have something to look forward to. Well, this week, you can look forward to a great show at The Middle East: Norfolk, Virginia’s favorite band, Super Doppler, is swinging north to play a show with a bunch of local acts, including the album release for Pyramid Thieves

I first heard Super Doppler on Daytrotter and just started refreshing their tour dates page more frequently than I’d like to admit and finally caught them at the Great Scott a couple years back. Damn, that show was fun. Maybe it’s because the band features not one, but two sets of brothers, or maybe because they’ve put in the time touring together, but for whatever reason, they play with that loose confidence of a group that knows each other really well. Their harmonies are as good live as they are in the studio (not something that is always true by any stretch) and their songs just groove.

Super Doppler is playing Wildwood Revival later this fall, one of those festivals that you just dream about. They released a new, self-titled album this year, following up 2017’s Moonlight Anthems and a string of singles released in 2018, including, “Gas Station,” which premiered here on Red Line Roots.

Get out to this show, folks. It’ll make the short week shorter and start the weekend right.
