Old Spruce Sessions: Andrew Brozek Featuring Eli Smith “Missouri Borderlands” (Joe Newberry)

As so many passing instances have it, a friend introduced me to a new friend and then solid foundations for music ensue. So was the case with this month’s Artist of the Month, Andrew Brozek. My longtime luthier pal mentioned a young singer and picker he was especially impressed by who had dropped a guitar off for some work. One thing led to another and pretty soon cameras were in tow, mics were being hung and we were in that very luthiery shop all together.

Andrew Brozek has a calmness to his playing, but his style and craftsmanship for playing and singing is anything but lackadaisical. His figners seem to effortlessly glide across the fretboard and his voice lifts and falls like waves lapping against a beach. Peaceful but full of power.
