Video Premiere: “Peaches En Regalia” (Frank Zappa Cover), by Twisted Pine

I mean is there anything Twisted Pine can’t do? We are thrilled to premiere this video of a live performance of “Peaches En Regalia,” by Frank Zappa filmed at The Sinclair. 

One of the things I love about Twisted Pine is how unbound by genre the band is. It means that they can stretch us as listeners to hear things that we wouldn’t otherwise hear. In this rendition of “Peaches En Regalia,” I love the fact that there are little duo interactions within the band as a whole. Anh Phung (flute) and Kathleen Parks (fiddle) trade melodies, then Anh does with Dan Bui (mandolin); later, Dan and Kathleen explore the song in a different way, and Kathleen and Chris Sartori (bass) do as well. It makes the song so dynamic and seems to tell little stories within the larger melodic picture. 

But what I love most about this video is the palpable sense of joy in the band: joy in playing together, joy and exploring new music (or old music in new ways), and joy in bringing that to a live audience.
