One More Time: Roots on the River’s 20th Year, Going Out With a Bang Music Features by Brian Carroll - May 13, 20190 Ray Massucco has great taste. Each year his painstakingly curated line up for Roots on the River never ceases to be a variety of some of the best that “roots” music has to offer. Spanning from the impeccable singer-songwriter stylings of Hayes Carll to the rock n’ roll badassery of Sarah Borges to the swelling chemistry of Birds of Chicago. Each day at Roots is a rollercoaster ride through a landscape of Americana, Blues, Bluegrass and Folk that leaves audiences rising and falling from their seats to clap and dance and sing along. But alas, sometimes all good things must end and when they do, leaving on the highest note possible is what a curator and producer like Massucco strives for. You see, this will be Ray’s final year producing ROTR. While the scenery and space may be humble, what is unleashed on stage is something to marvel. This year, the 20th of the festival’s existence, we expect nothing less as Ray has left no stone unturned and brought some some of the mainstays and favorites from years past of the event. He recently told us he is holding nothing back and going all out for this one… Head over to the full schedule on the ROTR website…or check out below for a tasting of what is to come.
